More Information

Connelly Early Puts On a Masterclass on the Mound

The absolute anchor of yesterday’s game was clearly our Starting Pitcher (the pitcher who starts the game) Connelly Early. What the kid delivered was top-tier performance and made staying up late in front of the TV worth every single minute.

In 7.0 outstanding Innings (periods of play), he allowed zero runs to Atlanta’s dangerous bats, gave up a meager four hits, and sent seven Braves back to the bench via strikeout (three missed swings by the batter). Along with reliever Ryan Watson, who kept the final two innings perfectly clean, he locked in the well-deserved shutout and captured his fifth win of the season (W, 5-2).

The Magical 4th Inning: Six Runs in a Flash!

For a long time, it was a tough defensive battle, but the floodgates completely opened in the fourth inning at Fenway Park. It all started with a single by Masataka Yoshida and a walk by Mickey Gasper. Following a perfect sacrifice bunt by Nick Sogard, Marcelo Mayer reached on a massive fielding error by the Braves – putting the first run on the board!

After that, the offense clicked like it hadn’t in weeks:

  • Isiah Kiner-Falefa immediately followed up with a sharp RBI single.
  • Ceddanne Rafaela drilled the ball into the field for a spectacular 2-RBI single and brutally exploited another defensive mistake by the opponent.
  • Wilyer Abreu put the finishing touches on the explosive inning with a hard line drive that sent two more runners across home plate.

Within just a few minutes, the boys pushed the score to 6-0. The game was essentially decided, and we could finally sit back and breathe easy on our couches.

Duran Puts the Cherry on Top

The boys had absolutely no intention of taking their foot off the gas. In the seventh frame, Marcelo Mayer drove in another run with an RBI single, bringing Gasper home for 7-0. However, Jarren Duran saved the emotional highlight for the eighth inning: with a crushing solo homerun (a direct hit over the outfield wall), he blasted the ball into the stands to set the final 8-0 score.

Statistical Overview

  • Connelly Early: 7.0 IP (Innings Pitched), 0 ER (Earned Runs), 4 H, 7 K. An absolute masterpiece!
  • Jarren Duran: 2-for-5, HR, Run, RBI. Showing off his raw power once again.
  • Ceddanne Rafaela: 3-for-5, Run, 2 RBI. Incredibly reliable at the plate.
  • Team RISP: 6-for-13. Capitalizing on scoring opportunities when it mattered most.

With this crucial victory, we improve our overall record to 23-31. While we remain in fifth place in the competitive American League East for now, with this exact energy, the comeback trail is officially open!

Outlook: Series Finale This Afternoon Against the Braves

My mistake, thank you for the correction! There is no break: our team will close out the series against Atlanta today, Thursday, May 28, 2026. And here is the best part: since it’s an afternoon matchup in the US, the First Pitch at Fenway Park is set for 4:10 PM local time (EDT). For us German fans, this translates into a dream slot right after work: we can watch live tonight at a very comfortable 10:10 PM CEST. Grab some cold drinks, because this is going to be a prime-time baseball feast!

Go Sox!
