Whitlock’s Return, Drive Power, and Liendo’s 5-RBI Show!
Welcome back, Red Sox Nation, to the daily farm report on fenway-fans.de! June 6, 2026, held some fantastic headlines for us. The absolute highlight was undoubtedly the return of a familiar face to the mound in Worcester. We also saw brutal home run power in High-A and a spectacular RBI clinic in Portland, even if not every team celebrated a win in the end. The final tally for the day: Two wins, two losses.
Here is the compact recap from June 6th!
Worcester Red Sox (AAA) – Garrett Whitlock’s Comeback and an Unstoppable 6th Inning Rally
Final Score: Buffalo Bisons 4 – Worcester Red Sox 7
The WooSox secured a hugely important 7-4 victory against the Buffalo Bisons in front of over 7,200 fans at Polar Park.
The biggest highlight from a Boston perspective took place in the third inning: Garrett Whitlock made a strong rehab appearance following his injury! He threw a spotless inning, allowing only one hit and collecting a strikeout. A great sign for his imminent return to Fenway Park.
Offensively, back-to-back RBI doubles by Matt Thaiss and Vinny Capra provided an early 2-0 lead. In the second inning, Tyler McDonough hammered his first home run of the season over the wall. Buffalo fought back to a 3-3 tie, but in the sixth inning, the WooSox finally broke through: Allan Castro reclaimed the lead with a crushing 2-run double, followed immediately by hits from McDonough and Braiden Ward. The Bisons never recovered from this 4-run inning.
WooSox Highlights:
- Garrett Whitlock: 1.0 IP, 0 ER, 1 K. He is well on his way back!
- Tyler McDonough: His first home run of the season and 2 RBIs.
- Allan Castro: His 2-run double in the sixth inning was the decisive blow of the game.
Portland Sea Dogs (AA) – Liendo Collects 5 RBIs in a Wild 10-8 Slugfest
Final Score: Hartford Yard Goats 10 – Portland Sea Dogs 8
Anyone hoping for a pitching duel came to the wrong place at Delta Dental Park. Both offenses traded heavy blows, but in the end, the Yard Goats narrowly kept the upper hand.
Despite the loss, Ahbram Liendo delivered an absolute masterpiece! He went 2-for-3 and nearly carried the Sea Dogs’ offense single-handedly. In the second inning, he cleared the bases with a 3-run double, and in the eighth, he kept hope alive with a clutch 2-run single. In total, he racked up a fantastic 5 RBIs. Miguel Bleis (2 hits, 3 runs) and Nelly Taylor (2 hits) were also constant threats on the basepaths. Ultimately, the Sea Dogs’ pitching (especially Caleb Bolden with 5 earned runs) was too error-prone on this day to secure the win.
Sea Dogs Highlights:
- Ahbram Liendo: An outstanding game with 2 hits (including a double) and a whopping 5 RBIs!
- Miguel Bleis: Extremely effective with 2 hits, a walk, and 3 runs scored.
Greenville Drive (High-A) – Home Run Trio Secures a Dominant 7-4 Victory
Final Score: Greenville Drive 7 – Rome Emperors 4
The Greenville Drive flexed their muscles at AdventHealth Stadium, confidently defeating the Emperors 7-4 thanks to massive home run power.
In the third inning, it rained homers: Jack Winnay and Mason White launched magnificent back-to-back home runs (the 10th of the season for both of them) into the stands! In the seventh inning, Ronny Hernandez sealed the deal with a crushing 2-run home run (his 4th of the year). Starter Kyson Witherspoon (5.1 IP, 1 ER, 6 K) laid the perfect foundation for this win with an extremely stable performance.
Drive Highlights:
- Jack Winnay & Mason White: Back-to-back home runs in the third inning! Madness.
- Ronny Hernandez: Provided late insurance with a massive 2-run shot.
- Kyson Witherspoon: A dominant start on the mound (6 strikeouts) to earn the win.
Salem RidgeYaks (Single-A) – Bitter Walk-off Drama in the Tenth Inning
Final Score: Salem RidgeYaks 3 – Carolina Warbirds 4 (10 Innings)
An absolute heart-stopping thriller unfortunately ended empty-handed for the Salem RidgeYaks. The team fought passionately but suffered a walk-off defeat in the tenth inning.
The RidgeYaks’ offense was largely carried by Andruw Musett. He had a fantastic 3-for-4 night, hitting two doubles and driving in 2 runs. The game was tied 2-2 after nine innings. In the tenth, a sacrifice fly by Stanley Tucker briefly gave the RidgeYaks a 3-2 lead! However, the Warbirds responded coldly in the bottom half against reliever Jay Allmer, scoring two runs for the decisive 4-3 walk-off.
Salem Highlights:
Stanley Tucker: Remains very dangerous, briefly giving the team the lead in the 10th inning.
Andruw Musett: The best man on the field! 3 hits, 2 doubles, 2 RBIs.
