MiLB Farm Report from June 5, 2026

WooSox Beat Max Scherzer, Heartbreaking Drama for the Rest!

Welcome back, Red Sox Nation, to the daily farm report on fenway-fans.de! If you believe in baseball heartbreak, yesterday, June 5, 2026, was a prime example. While our boys in Worcester took down a huge name on the mound and secured a win, the prospects in Double-A, High-A, and Single-A experienced absolute nightmares: all three teams lost their games due to dramatic late-inning collapses or walk-offs.

Here is the wild recap of June 5th!

Worcester Red Sox (AAA) – A Strong 6-3 Win Against Cy Young Winner Max Scherzer

Final Score: Buffalo Bisons 3 – Worcester Red Sox 6

The highlight of the day took place in Worcester! The Bisons sent none other than multi-Cy Young winner Max Scherzer to the mound for a rehab start. But the WooSox showed no respect and chased him out after just 3.2 innings (5 hits, 3 earned runs)!

Tsung-Che Cheng had an especially fantastic day: He collected two hits, stole two bases, and drove in three runs (3 RBIs), including a crucial 2-run single in the third inning. Matt Lloyd also showcased his power, hammering a solo home run over the fence in the fourth. Allan Castro added a clutch 2-run single in the fifth inning to extend the lead. On the pitching side, reliever Raymond Burgos (4.2 IP, 1 ER) secured the win after a solid outing, while Zack Kelly closed the game down smoothly.

WooSox Highlights:

  • Tsung-Che Cheng: 2-for-5, 3 RBIs, 2 stolen bases. An absolute menace on the basepaths!
  • Matt Lloyd: Sent the ball flying for his third home run of the season.
  • Beating Max Scherzer: Always a nice confidence boost for the minor league squad!

Portland Sea Dogs (AA) – Liendo’s Grand Slam Erased in Absolute 9th Inning Collapse

Final Score: Hartford Yard Goats 8 – Portland Sea Dogs 7

What an incredibly bitter pill to swallow for the Sea Dogs. Until the ninth inning, everything pointed toward a glorious victory, but then the bullpen completely imploded.

In the sixth inning, Portland turned the game upside down and scored seven runs! The absolute pinnacle of the inning was a Grand Slam Home Run by Ahbram Liendo (his 3rd HR of the season). Nate Baez (2-run single) and Brooks Brannon (RBI double) also delivered. They entered the ninth inning with a comfortable 7-2 lead.

But there, pitchers Cooper Adams and Patrick Halligan had a nightmare inning. Hartford scored an unbelievable six runs (including a 3-run homer by GJ Hill and a 3-run double) to turn the game into an 8-7 final score. A game you simply cannot lose from that position.

Sea Dogs Highlights:

  • Ahbram Liendo: A Grand Slam is fantastic, even if it ultimately didn’t result in a win (4 RBIs).
  • Nate Baez: Confirmed his strong form with two hits and two RBIs.

Greenville Drive (High-A) – Bitter 1-0 Walk-off Loss Despite Pitching Masterclass

Final Score: Greenville Drive 0 – Rome Emperors 1

A classic, grueling pitching duel that ended unfortunately for Greenville.

Our pitchers delivered a masterpiece: Starter Jojo Ingrassia threw 4.0 spotless innings, allowed only two hits, and collected 6 strikeouts. Reliever Joe Vogatsky followed up with 3.0 hitless innings right after. The problem? The Drive’s offense was completely shut down as well. They managed only six hits total, including a double by Yophery Rodriguez. Because the offense provided no run support, a simple ninth-inning sacrifice fly was enough for the Emperors to score the game’s only run for a 1-0 walk-off win.

Drive Highlights:

Salem RidgeYaks (Single-A) – Walk-off Grand Slam Ends Wild Extra-Innings

Final Score: Salem RidgeYaks 7 – Carolina Warbirds 11 (11 Innings)

The drama just wouldn’t end on this day. The Salem RidgeYaks engaged in a wild rollercoaster ride with the Warbirds, which was ended in extra innings by the hardest hit possible.

Salem scored consistently. In the fourth inning, the offense exploded for five runs, led by a strong 2-run double from Stanley Tucker and a few wild pitches from the opponents. The team even fought for a 7-6 lead in the 10th inning thanks to an RBI single by Skylar King. But the Warbirds tied it up and forced the eleventh. That’s where the worst-case scenario happened: With the bases loaded, Carolina’s José Anderson hammered a walk-off Grand Slam home run against Salem reliever Griffin Kilander into left field.

Salem Highlights:

Andruw Musett: Made a positive impression with a double.

Stanley Tucker: Remains extremely dangerous with a double, 1 RBI, and 2 runs scored.
