MiLB Farm Report

Salem Stays Perfect, Wild Home Run Derbies in Greenville!

Welcome back, Red Sox Nation, to the daily farm report on fenway-fans.de! Because I was tied up with work yesterday, we are doing a special two-day recap today (Saturday and Sunday)! It was a weekend of mixed emotions for our Red Sox prospects. While Salem kept a clean sheet and Greenville impressed with massive power, the WooSox had a weekend they’d rather forget.

Here is the corrected and detailed recap of the games!

Worcester Red Sox (AAA) – A Long Weekend to Forget

Final Score (Saturday): Worcester Red Sox 2 – Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 7 Final Score (Sunday): Worcester Red Sox 0 – Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 1

Unfortunately, there was absolutely nothing for the WooSox to grab against the RailRiders this weekend. On Saturday, the team fell behind early as starter Raymond Burgos didn’t have his best stuff. The offense finally showed a small pulse in the ninth inning when Matt Thaiss delivered a 2-run single to make the final score a slightly more respectable 7-2.

Sunday brought a true pitching duel, but the offense was completely shut down. The WooSox only managed a measly three hits throughout the entire game. An early solo home run by the RailRiders in the first inning was enough to hand Worcester a 1-0 shutout loss.

WooSox Highlights:

  • Matt Thaiss: Provided the only runs for the WooSox all weekend with his 2-run single on Saturday.
  • Alec Gamboa: Despite taking the loss on Sunday, he delivered a very strong start (4.0 IP, 1 ER).

Portland Sea Dogs (AA) – A Hard-Fought Split in Binghamton

Final Score (Saturday): Portland Sea Dogs 3 – Binghamton Rumble Ponies 4 Final Score (Sunday): Portland Sea Dogs 3 – Binghamton Rumble Ponies 1

The Sea Dogs exit the weekend with a split.

On Saturday, they found themselves in an early 3-0 hole. Our prospects fought back valiantly with RBI singles from Johanfran Garcia and Ahbram Liendo, plus a loud double by Nate Baez to tie the game, but ultimately fell short 4-3 due to a late run by the Ponies.

On Sunday, Portland punched back! In a gritty game, the team secured the win in the seventh inning. A costly error by the opposing defense on a ball put in play by Franklin Arias allowed three runners to score (Bleis, Taylor, McDonough). Pitcher Cooper Adams was the standout guy from the bullpen, securing the save with 3.0 perfect innings.

Sea Dogs Highlights:

  • Cooper Adams: 3.0 innings, 0 runs, 5 strikeouts – an ice-cold save on Sunday!
  • Nate Baez: Showed his quality at the plate on Saturday with a massive double.

Greenville Drive (High-A) – Pure Thrills and a Home Run Barrage

Final Score (Saturday): Greenville Drive 8 – Asheville Tourists 10 Final Score (Sunday): Greenville Drive 5 – Asheville Tourists 3

If you are looking for action, look to Greenville! On Saturday, the Drive engaged in a wild 10-8 slugfest. Although Asheville pulled away early, Greenville fought back dangerously close with home runs by Isaiah Jackson and Jack Winnay, capping it off with a furious 3-run rally in the ninth inning. They just ran out of outs.

On Sunday, the Drive turned the tables! Jack Winnay had an absolute career day, smashing TWO solo home runs. Isaiah Jackson also went deep again in the eighth inning (his 7th HR of the season). This unbelievable power surge was enough to comfortably bring home a 5-3 victory.

Drive Highlights:

  • Jack Winnay: The player of the weekend in Greenville! A home run on Saturday and TWO home runs on Sunday!
  • Isaiah Jackson: Confirmed his hot streak with a home run in both games over the weekend.

Salem Red Sox (Single-A) – The Flawless RidgeYaks!

Final Score (Saturday): Hickory Crawdads 1 – Salem RidgeYaks 5 Final Score (Sunday): Hickory Crawdads 0 – Salem RidgeYaks 1

The Salem RidgeYaks were the undisputed flagship of our farm system this weekend!

On Saturday, Salem completely dominated the Crawdads in a 5-1 victory. The standout player was Starlyn Nunez, who launched the ball over the fence twice for solo home runs.

On Sunday, the team proved they can also win tight games. An early RBI single by Andruw Musett in the very first inning provided the only run of the day. After that, our pitchers locked the door: Cole Tolbert (Win) was brilliant with 4.2 scoreless relief innings, before Wuilliams Rodriguez secured the 1-0 win with a save.

Salem Highlights:

Andruw Musett: His first-inning hit decided Sunday’s game.

Starlyn Nunez: A true show of force on Saturday with two home runs.

Cole Tolbert: His outstanding relief appearance on Sunday (4.2 IP, 0 R) secured the narrow victory.
